5 Things: Fighting Hunger with Comedy

Plus three bands for $8, a free model drawing session and a live open mic.

1. Put A Fork In It. Join a line-up of comedians at The Bell House to raise money for the New York City Coalition Against Hunger’s Craig Murphey Fellowship Fund. The Fund advocates anti-hunger policies, assists soup kitchens and looks to increase access to food and benefits. Tickets are $15. Doors are at 7:30 p.m. Show starts at 8. 

2. Live Bands for Cheap. See three unique rock and alternative acts – Cholo, Bright Brown and Flying Pace – at Union Hall for only $8. Tickets can be purchased online. 21+.

3. Drink and Draw. Attend a model drawing session at Launchpad (721 Franklin Ave.). Session will run from 8 to 10 p.m. Bring your own drawing materials, including a drawing board if you own one. Recommended donation is $5. Beverages will be served.

4. Tell a Story. Attend a live open mic hosted by two local writers and performers, Victoria Scroggins and Susan Kent, at Bar4 (444 7th Ave.). Audience members can enter their names for the chance to tell a five-minute story. Sign up at 7:30 p.m. Show starts at 8.

5. Move your car. DOT’s alternate side parking rules are in effect.
