5 Things: Movie + Cheese at Cool Pony and Drink + Draw at LaunchPad

Plus a day camp open house and Plaza Street berm cleaning and greening.

1. Unwind with a drink and a pencil. The Launchpad is hosting a model drawing session tonight from 8 p.m.- 10 p.m., with a short break in the middle. Beverages will be on hand, but participants should bring their own drawing materials, including drawing boards if they have them. If people are interested, there can also be an open drawing table for collaborative draw jams and general messing around. A recommended donation $5, 721 Franklin Ave.

2. Unwind with a cheesy movie (and a cheese plate). Wedge, the two-week-old cheese shop has teamed up with Cool Pony to present: Cheesy Movies. Tonight the film is Artois the Goat (2009).
Doors open at 9, movie starts at 9:30, and there will be a Greek band playing at midnight. $15 in advance, $20 at the door, cheese plate included.

3. Pitch in. On Saturday morning there's the monthly Friends of the Berms cleaning and greening of Plaza Street parks, which organizers promise will be "a satisfying volunteer experience, and no experience required." Adults and supervised children are welcome. Gloves and tools are provided. Meet at the corner of Plaza Street and Vanderbilt Avenue at 10:00 am.

4. Head to a carnival. Saint Saviour Catholic Academy is hosting its annual spring carnival Saturday, May 18 from 12-5 p.m. There will be food, drinks, a bake sale, a chili cook-off contest, bouncy & swing rides, arts & crafts and carnival games. Free Admission, but games, rides, food and drink are additional. All proceeds support Saint Saviour Catholic Academy. 7th Street Between 8th Ave & Prospect Park West.

4.5 Prep for camp season. The Park Slope Day Camp is holding an Open House for parents and kids to check out its Summer Camp on Saturday, May 18, from 1-4 p.m. behind the Picnic House in Prospect Park. Partake in fun and free activities and learn more about the camp experience. Free.

5. Move the car. Alternate side parking is back in effect, so keep an eye out to make sure your car is on the correct side of the road. The next suspension will be on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.
