5 Things: Carousel Opening and the Built-in-Brooklyn Craft Fair

Plus Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne and other board games at LaunchPad and Queer Country at Branded.

1. Ride the carousel. Prospect Park's 100-year old carousel opens for the summer today and will be open all next week (instead of just weekends) for spring break. 12-5 p.m. Prospect Park's Children's corner just inside the park at the intersection of Flatbush, Ocean and Empire Boulevards (Prospect Park station on the Q line). $2 per ride.

2. Support Brooklyn artisans (and get cool stuff). LaunchPad's Built In Brooklyn Craft Fair is back and will be monthly this summer. Not only will you support Brooklyn-based artisans, but you can also get a bunch of really nice stuff in a friendly, community setting. 721 Franklin Ave. bet. Park and Sterling, 12 to 6 p.m. Free.

3. Get Geeked. Whether you like to trade wool for bricks or plan where to place your meeples, head to (or stay at) LaunchPad Game Night to play your favorite board game with old and new friends. There are also more mainstream options such as Pictionary and Jenga. Snacks and drinks will grease the wheels. LaunchPad, 721 Franklin Avenue bet. Park and Sterling. 8 p.m. $5 donation suggested.

4. Go country. It's country night in Prospect Heights tonight with The Boot Heel Drag @ The Way Station and Queer Country Monthly with Karen & The Sorrows @ Branded Saloon. No cover at either spot.

5. Find a Tuesday spot. If you can find a Tuesday parking spot this weekend you're set until—wait for it—Wed. April 3*, because alternate side parking rules will be suspended March 26-April 2 due to Passover and Easter. Another reason to love the holidays.

*Which means Thursday, April 4 in Prospect Heights.
