5 Things: Brooklyn Food Coalition Benefit and Earl "The Pearl" Book Signing

1. Take in some music. Tonight at The Way Station the line-up begins with Charlie Rauh and Concetta Abbate will offer up  "concise and unpredictable songs" influenced by experimental, country, pop, folk, jazz, and folk music. They're followed by Mika Karni and Toby Singer. 8 p.m. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospet. 

2. Do good. There's also a Benefit for the Brooklyn Food Coalition featuring food writer Mark Bittman. Long Island University, 6 p.m.

3. Have a beer with "Beerfest."
Tonight is Movie Night at ATLANTIC CO., and in keeping with April's alcohol theme, the selection is "Beerfest," about two brothers who travel to Germany for Oktoberfest, and happen upon a secret, centuries-old competition described as a "Fight Club" with beer games, according to IMDB. 622 Washington Ave., 8:30 p.m. No cover.

4. Meet Black Magic. Attention basketball fans: There is a Book Signing with Earl Monroe and Quincy Troupe, authors of Earl the Pearl: My Story. Basketball Hall of Famer Earl “The Pearl” Monroe aka “Black Magic” tells his story with  Quincy Troupe (author of The Pursuit of Happyness), taking the reader from the playgrounds and hardships of his childhood in South Philadelphia to his status as a basketball legend. 5. Decide about a doula.
If you're pregnant and are thinking about hiring a doula, then the workshop: What is a Doula and Why Should You Hire One? is for you. Seasoned birth and postpartum doulas Mollie Michel and Meema Spadola will explain the ins and outs of birth and postpartum support and answer questions. Drinks and light fare will be provided! Stay to mingle, ask more questions and meet other moms and moms to be. Birth Day Presence - 182 Eighth Ave., 6 p.m.
