1. Robot (R)evolution.
Listen to biologist and roboticist Dr. John Long discuss the evolution of living and extinct animals – as well as the future of technology – at The Bell House. Plus, try the machine-coded cocktail. Doors, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free.

2. Brew your own beer. Learn all about malts, hops, yeasts and grains at Bitter & Esters, 700 Washington Ave., as you make your very own batch of beer. Starter kits will be available for purchase. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

3. Mix classical with modern. See the Ensemble Sans Maître mix classical music with modern artists like David Bowie at LaunchPad, 721 Franklin Ave. Show starts at 8 p.m. Suggested donation is $5.

4. Comedy and karaoke. A slate of comedians will perform something inspired by a song – and then sing that karaoke-style – at Union Hall, 702 Union St. Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door.

5. See a literary hero. Hear author Neil Gaiman, winner of the Newbery and Carnegie medals for The Graveyard Book (2008), discuss his newest book The Ocean at the End of the Lane at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Tickets range from $36 to $55.
