5 Things: Astronomy on Tap and Cheap Date Comedy

Plus Transit Museum launches program for kids with special needs, and Tai Chi for beginners.

1. Laugh in the Hall.
 Stop by Union Hall for Cheap Date Comedy Show tonight. Hosted by Sharron Paul from College Humor and Calvin Cole from TBS Just for Laughs, this night will feature stand-up comedy, free snacks and prizes. Come hear Streeter Seidell from College Humor, Jason Saenz from Sirius XM, Tanisha Long from MTV’s Girl Code and more. Union Hall, 702 Union St, 7:30 p.m., $5. 

2. Explore the trains. Join the New York Transit Museum this summer for a new program Straphangers’ Hangout that provides a welcoming, supportive environment for 3 - 5 year-olds with special needs, accompanied by their caregivers. Each week kids will have fun together in the Transit Museum’s exhibits as they explore transportation themes through interactive stories, movement and art making. New York Transit Museum, Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street, 10 a.m., $10.

3. Tap into astronomy. Head to The Way Station for Astronomy on Tap. This event is a series of short science talks by astronomers from Yale University, Princeton University, the American Museum of Natural History, and more. Afterwards there will be a chance to ask questions and talk one-on-one with the speakers. The Way Station, 683 Washington Ave, 7 p.m., free. 

4. Start some Tai Chi. Stop by Brooklyn Arts Exchange to learn Tai Chi fundamentals and a short beginner form in this ongoing weekly class. If you've been thinking about Tai Chi, this is a great way to get started. More info: http://taichijane.com. Brooklyn Arts Exchange, 421 5th Ave, 7:30 p.m.
