Where to Go With the Kids: Weekend Edition

  The two day festival includes tons of events for kids including concerts and origami, drumming and craft workshops., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., $15 adults, $10 students and seniors, kids under 12, free.  

Greenlight Kids Story Time Brooklyn-based author and illustrator Amy Schwartz (Bea and Mr. Jones) presents her new picture book, Willie and Uncle Bill followed by an art project. , 686 Fulton St. (at S Portland St), 11 a.m., ages 3-8, Free.

  This globe-spanning musical adventure is packed with multicultural songs, storytelling, dancing, interactive learning and fun. , 10 Grand Army Plaza, 1 p.m. Free. 

 The Carousel is open Thursdays – Sundays and school holidays, 12 to 5 p.m. $2 per ride; $9 for a book of five tickets. Enter Prospect Park at the Willink entrance, located at Ocean and Flatbush Avenues and Empire Boulevard.

There are more than 250 species of birds in Prospect Park. See some of them at this weekly event that is engaging for both older children and adults. The Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park), 12-1:30 p.m., Free.

Lefferts House Events Today this historic house is hosting Second Floor Tours (1-4:30 on the half hour) and Race Around the Farmyard (2:30-3:30 p.m.). Lefferts Historic House at Prospect Park (Use entrance at Empire Boulevard and Flatbush and Ocean Avenues), Free.

 In celebration of Prospect Park's wooded landscape kids partake in crafts, games and an exhibit about the Park's trees. The Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park). 1-4 p.m., all ages, Free.

Brooklyn Children's Museum Events The museum has events for kids all day. See their schedule here. 145 Brooklyn Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect. Free with admission of $7.50 for everyone 1 year and older.  

Puppetworks' The Jungle Book Rudyard Kipling's 1894 fables of India
with an original song score adapted for Marionettes. Suggested for kids 3+. Reservations suggested at 718-965-3391 or puppetworks@verizon.net. 338 Sixth Ave. at Fourth Street. 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. $8 adults, $7 kids. 

Transit Museum: Create a City Kids work together to design an urban landscape with streets, buildings, subways and buses. For ages 4+. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 1:30 p.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5).  

Prospect Park Zoo Events On Saturdays and Sundays, there are events for kids going on all day including sea lion feedings, keeper chats, close-up encounters with individual animals and more. See today's schedule here. , 450 Flatbush Avenue. Free with zoo admission of $8 adults, $5 kids 3-12.

 This all-ages event features clips from the around the Muppet world, plus rare Muppet moments, hand-picked by super-fans. There will be Muppet-themed drink specials, audience participation and sing-along fun. , 702 Union St. 2 p.m. $8.

 The Museum’s collections will inspire kids to imagine and create new worlds while exploring color and other elements of art in this ninety-minute class. , 200 Eastern Parkway,11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Ages 4-7, $10 plus museum admission of $12 adults, $8 seniors and students, children under 12, free.

Sunday Stories for Kids Come hear your favorite children's authors read their latest books. , 143 7th Ave, 11-1 p.m., Free.

Monday, April 30 

 Each week Annie Nieves will lead the group in an art project that promotes creativity and experimentation. The class also includes some independent play and concludes with music and a sing-a-long.
