Tuesday, November 15

Sea Lion Feeding This daily event features the Prospect Park Zoo sea lions showing off their dives, catching fish mid-air and other tricks. , 450 Flatbush Avenue, 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., Free with admission.

America Recycles Day Kids can observe the day with this workshop where they will andlearn all about the importance of recycling, examine objects from the Museum’s collection such as instruments, footwear and toys made out of recycled materials and create a recycled work of art to take home. 1:30 p.m., 4 and up. Free with admission of $7.50 for adults and kids 1 year and older.

 

Wednesday, November 16

Friday, November 18

Transit Tots This weekly drop-in program entertains the little ones. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 11 a.m., Ages 2-5, Free.

 Visit the Totally Tots Art Studio at Brooklyn Children’s Museum and discover all the activities that are in store for your young Picasso. , 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., ages 5 and under, Free with admission of $7.50 per person 1 year and older.

Family Movie Night Every week a different family-friendly movie is shown at this family restaurant. The Moxie Spot, 81 Atlantic Avenue (at Hicks St), 6:45 p.m., Free.

Saturday, November 19

IckyFest! The 4th annual IckyFest takes place from 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday and includes a variety of science-based activities. "During this unique weekend festival, kids become grossologists—scientific experts on all things slimy, yucky, and downright disgusting. Create your very own snotty slime, touch creepy creatures, smell pungent cheese, study the New York City sewers, and more! Children of all ages are encouraged to attend."  Free with admission of $7.50 for adults and kids 1 year and older.

 The Brooklyn Museum's fifth annual Children's Book Fair will feature more than thirty newly published stories by Brooklyn-based authors and illustrators. Participants will be able to not only meet their favorite Brooklyn authors but also to engage in book signings, and readings. The event will include readings by Kate Hosford (Big Bouffant), Laura Ljungkvist (Follow the Line to School), and John Rocco (Blackout). Light refreshments will be available. noon-4 p.m. , 200 Eastern Pkwy. Free with museum's suggested admission ($12, $8 seniors, students, kids under 12 are free). 

 Sergei Prokofiev's classic interpretation of this folktale, and other classical music shorts, are presented with style by the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra with narration and comedic play by the Maestrosities. 4 p.m. , 200 Eastern Pkwy. Free with Museum admission($12, $8 seniors, students, kids under 12 are free) but space is limited so an advance ticket recommended via www.museumtix.com

 Music that kids and their grown-ups love including songs about the subway, garbage trucks and Coney Island as well as music from Caribbean, African, and Irish cultures played with a Rock sensibility. There are more than 250 species of birds in Prospect Park. See some of them at this weekly event that is engaging for both children and adults. The Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park), 12-1:30 p.m., Free.

  Meet birds and other wildlife on this naturalist-guided walk. Find out how to use binoculars to spot some of the incredible species of birds that call Prospect Park home. Learn the history of the Boathouse and see little-known curiosities about the Park and its animal residents. Meet at the Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park). 1-3 p.m., all ages, Free.
