 Kids can travel the world’s deserts and rain forests through hands-on activities inside Brooklyn Botanic Garden's conservatories and take a plant home. Meet at the Steinhardt Conservatory. , 1000 Washington Ave., 11 a.m. This program is free, as is garden admission on winter weekdays.

 Every afternoon this week there are events at the Boathouse including showings of episodes from Life, a kids nature film series, crafts, nature and bird walks and park clean-ups. See the daily schedule here. Prospect Park Boathouse, right inside the Lincoln Road entrance. 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free. 

 Kids learn how to play Nine-Man Morris and make their own playing board to take home. Lefferts Historic House at Prospect Park (Use entrance at Flatbush and Ocean Avenues), 1-3 p.m. Free.

Brooklyn Children's Museum Events The museum opens at 9:30 a.m. this week instead of 10 and has events for kids all day including several in honor of Black History Month. See their schedule here. 145 Brooklyn Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect. Free with admission of $7.50 for everyone 1 year and older. 

Puppetworks' Puss in Boots Perrault's 1697 French Fantasy performed by Marionettes with an original song score and a "live" ogre. Suggested for kids 3+. Reservations suggested at 718-965-3391 or puppetworks@verizon.net. 338 Sixth Ave. at Fourth Street. 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. $8 adults, $7 kids.  

 Each week Annie Nieves will lead the group in an art project that promotes creativity and experimentation. The class also includes some independent play and concludes with music and a sing-a-long. For ages 2-5. , 755 Dean St. at Underhill. 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. $10/child ($5/additional sibling).

Sea Lion Feeding This daily event features the Prospect Park Zoo sea lions showing off their dives, catching fish mid-air and other tricks. , 450 Flatbush Avenue, 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., Free with zoo admission of $8 adults, $5 kids 3-12.


Tuesday, February 21 

Transit Museum: Feb. Break Events The museum is holding extra events this week for kids on February break. At 11 a.m. there's Subway Storytelling and at 2:30 p.m. there's Create A City, where kids plan a city and build it. For ages 4+ New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 1:30 p.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5).

Bring your camera for great photo opp’s along the way! For ages 4+ New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 1:30 p.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5).   

Prospect Park Lefferts House Events Today this historic house is having its Winter Festival (1-3 p.m.) where kids learn how to play Nine-Man Morris and make their own playing board to take home. There are also Second Floor Tours (1-3:30 on the half hour) and Handiwork: Tasks and Crafts from the Past (2:30-3:30 p.m.).
