Viewfinder: An Icy Commute in Prospect Heights
Large patches of ice that formed in NYC overnight made for a cautious trip to the subway, yet didn't bother the outdoors type.
Yesterday's warmer temperatures coupled with last night's below freezing temperatures created a slippery morning for some commuters as they navigated large patches of clear ice that formed overnight
As Prospect Heighters made their way to their cars or to the subway, they gamely picked their way through the ice, some crunching along the side-snow for a safer trip.
But over in Prospect Park it was a different story. The par was covered with a thin candy-coating-like shell of ice over several inches of snow including the sledding hills at the north point of the park.

And just when you thought it can't get any worse, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Saturday for Prospect Heights, and Weather.com is forecasting a "wintry mix" with a high of 34 and a low of 32, meaning more ice is yet to come.
