This Vanderbilt Avenue newcomer normally doesn't take reservations. But the are taking them for Valentine's Day, and as of Friday, there were still a few spots left. There isn't a special menu, but there is a special cocktail: the "S&S #1," which Vogue recently called "the bittersweet drink du saison." They will also be that day, for one-stop shopping.

This medieval-looking non-traditional Mediterranean and Spanish tapas bar will offer both a prix-fixe and a la carte menu for Valentine's Day, that is expected to be available on their website as of Friday night. As of Friday, reservations were still available.  

638 Bergen Street (at Vanderbilt Avenue), 718-399-6855

 

Secluded on quiet Carlton Avenue, James is featuring a three-course dinner with Prosecco toast for $75 (see menu here). Reservations are recommended and as of Friday, space was still available.

For a less-expensive choice, Ortine will be offering a Prix Fixe $20 menu that includes a kale salad, a "red pizza" made with sun-dried tomato, smoked mozzarella and roasted red peppers and Valentine's Day cookies. Reservations are recommended and as of Friday, space was still available.

Owners Saul Bolton and Ben Daitz are offering a four-course prix fixe menu that includes such dishes as Beef Short Rib and Long Island Duck Breast at $65 a person or $85 with wine pairings.  (5-11pm; $65 per person). As of Friday, reservations were still available.

Note: For those hoping the spend Valentine's day at  or , you're out of luck. Aliseo is closed for renovations until sometime in March and Bar Corvo is closed Tuesdays.
