POLL: Should Ice Cream Truck Music be Banned?

Pleasant nostalgia or noise pollution?

For some, the jingles from a Mr. Softee truck offer a pleasant remembrance of childhood.

For others, the sound is nothing more than noise pollution, or an unwelcome temptation for your children or your diet.

In 2007, the city banned ice cream trucks from playing their music while parked after complaints from residents (especially those living near parks and schools) that trucks would park outside their homes and blast “Pop Goes the Weasel” or other annoying songs for hours.

However parked trucks don’t always obey the ordinance.

So what do you think? Are ice cream truck jingles a joy or an annoyance? Let us know in our poll.
