Make-a-Wish Gala Grants Princess Dream to Cancer Patient

Avery, a 3-year-old, gets a princess crown at the Make-a-Wish event in Newport Beach.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- A brave little girl from Loma Linda had a special wish granted last week by the local chapter of Make-a-Wish.

Avery, a 3-year-old cancer patient, was the center of attention Friday at the Balboa Bay Club and Resort in Newport Beach, where more than 200 guests celebrated the 30th anniversary of Make-A-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire. Avery's coronation included a Renaissance-themed high court, complete with a throne and Master of Revels, who announced Princess Avery.

“Many people do not get to experience a wish and what it can do,” said Stephanie McCormick, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire. “We wanted to honor young Avery and share with our guests the true power of a wish.”

After Avery was crowned, she and her family took their place at the head table for the night.

Also at the event, Frank Bopsy Salazar had his wish granted for a trip to Disneyland. The gala also featured silent and live auctions that raised about $150,000 to benefit local children.

Make-a-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Looking at the pictures they sure went all out to make a little girls dream come true. God Bless all who work for Make A Wish, and all who volunteer their time to help all the dreams of these children become a reality.

It was an honor and a blessing to photograph this amazing event! She is the sweetest little girl and she was so beautiful! I think the people who get to be a part of helping a wish come true are just as blessed to just witness it!
