Events For National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Where to go in the neighborhood to help raise funds

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and you can make a difference while having a good time with friends and family.

Join the Brooklyn office of the American Cancer Society (17 Eastern Pkwy.) for their Pink Tuesdays, which run until October 18. You can meet with a Strides Specialist that will give you a personal tour of the online website, as well as offer suggestions on how to fundraise and order team t-shirts.

On October 14, enjoy locally harvested food while raising money for cancer research at Aliseo (665 Vanderbilt Ave.) during their Eat, Drink and Make Strides event. The event takes place from 6:30-10:00pm and the $130 ticket includes dinner and live entertainment. Half of the proceeds from each ticket go directly to the American Cancer Society to support their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Campaign.

The highlight of the month is the fundraising walk at Prospect Park on October 16. This walk, which was attended by over 25,000 Brooklynites last year, is the boroughs number one walk in the fight against cancer.

If there are any other additional local events related to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, please advertise them in the comments section.
