5 Things You Need to Know Today: Maxi Priest, Electric Boat Ride, the Alloy Orchestra and More

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to listen to reggae and R&B. Maxi Priest, born in Jamaica and one of the most popular reggae stars since Bob Marley, will play the last  of the summer. Starts at 12 p.m. on Flatbush Ave Ext & Myrtle Ave, (MetroTech Concert Stage).

2. You need to take a boat ride in Prospect Park. All ages are welcome to hop on an around the lake at the Audubon Center. It costs $8 for ages 13 and up, $4 for ages 4 to 12. Ages 3 and under ride free with an adult. The Audubon Center is located just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to , Eastern Pkwy & Flatbush Ave. Boat rides are from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

3. You need to go the Brooklyn Museum. Tonight curator Joan Cummins will lead a 7 p.m.   of the exhibit Vishnu: Hinduism's Blue-Skinned Savior. The is located at 200 Eastern Pkwy. The suggested donation for adults is $10, student with valid ID is $6, kids under 12 enter free.

4. You need to bring your kid to the library. Bring your toddler to listen to a fairytale from around the world, followed by a craft project inspired by the story. At the , 10 Grand Army Plaza, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Suitable for ages 3 to 6 years old. Call 718-230-2117 for more info.

5. You need to listen to the orchestra. is proud to host the Alloy Orchestra and the cellist Marika Hughes. The orchestra will perform its original live score to the newly restored version of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. The show is free and starts at 7 p.m. at Prospect Park West and 9th Street.
