5 Things You Need to Know Today: Haiti Fundraiser Concert, Author Reading, Low-Cost Yoga, More

Prospect Heights information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to do something for Haiti. More than a year after the earthquake, the country is still in shambles. But today there's a very pleasant way to help: , 180 7th Ave., is having a at 2 p.m. today. John Allgood, Bill Fulbrecht, Elizabeth Heisner, Adam Lane, Frank McGarry, and Joe Phillips will perform. Tickets are $10.  

2. You need to get the kids out of the house. It's supposed to rain all day today, so it's a good day to stay close to home. Head to NYC Explorers, 186 Underhill Ave. bet. Sterling and St. Johns, anytime between  9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and use their toy-filled playspace for $10 per family.

3. You need an evening out. Head to , 686 Fulton St. in Fort Greene, to hear Fort Greene's own Alison Espach read from her debut novel, "The Adults." 7:30 p.m. Free.

4. You need yoga. There's  at  today. Best of all, it's pay what you want.

5. You need to know if you have to move your car, and what's going on with the trains? You do need to move your car. The next alternate side suspension isn't until Ash Wednesday on March 9, accoring to the NYC DOT. As for trains, Prospect Heights seems to have been granted a temporary reprieve. There are no subway changes today or tomorrow that affect our stations, according to the MTA.
