5 Things You Need to Know Today: Celebrate Brooklyn, Plaza Swing Series, More

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need free music. Head to the Prospect Park Bandshell for  7:00pm, Prospect Park W & 9th St. Free.

3. You need to get to the museum. Tonight's your night, 'cause it's   where the Moonlight Tour is "Seeing Red: The Power of Color in Art," plus Nuyorican Poets Cafe will showcase Latino and Latina artists and poets including Carlos Andres Gomez, Jessica Blandina, Chilo, La Bruja, and Jennifer falu, with music by Yellowcake. 7 p.m. Free with museum admission of $10, $6 students and seniors.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Today is  from 5-7 p.m. Tonight's festivities include a celebration of local birds with our friends from the Cornell Cooperative Extension and a screening of Winged Migration.  5-7 p.m., all ages, Free. Or, .

5. You need to know if your train is running and if you have to move your car. There are no planned subway changes affecting Prospect Heights today, according to the MTA. As for moving your car – the next alternate side suspension isn't until July 4, sadly, according to the NYC DOT.
