5 Things You Need to Know Today: Carousel Opens, Bike Rodeo, Free Jazz, Q Train Issues, More

Prospect Heights information and events you won't want to miss.

1.You need to take the kids to the park. Today is your day. Not only is it projected to reach into the low 50s and not rain, but it's the , which will be open noon to 5 p.m. $2 per ride.  Or, see our , here.

2. You need a (free) night out. Tonight is . There will be live music, beat-boxing, art-making, dancing, free screening of "Wuthering Heights," curator talks, stand-up comedy and more at this free monthly event.  , 5-11 p.m. Free.

3. You need to get your kid a bike. Head to the PS261 . We don't understand where the rodeo plays in (which is a bit disappointing, we were hoping for cowboys) but it's still a great event if you need a kid's bike. Donate ones you're not using, or swap it for another size. If you do not have a kids bike, purchase one for $25. There will also be bike games,"learn to ride" clinics, and other bike-oriented fun. Proceeds will fund PS261's PTA programs that have been threatened by recent budget cuts. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 314 Pacific. 4. You need music, free music. You're in luck, because  tonight. The trombonist from Harlem will perform for free. Before going solo, Anderson spent over 20 years touring with jazz great Sonny Rollins. 6pm . Free.

5. You need to know if your train is running, and if you have to move your car. The 2/3/4/5 lines are running fine through Prospect Heights all weekend, but late-night Q issues continue. From 12:15 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, 12:15 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday and 12:15 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, there are no Q trains north of Atlantic Avenue. At Atlantic change for the N to continue to Manhattan. Brooklyn-bound trains it's the same in reverse, take the N to Atlantic and change for the Q, according to theMTA. For drivers, there's no alternate side suspension until Passover on April 19 and 20, according to the NYC DOT.
