5 Things: West Indian Day Parade 2012 and Sunburnt Calf Fundraiser for P.S. 9

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need suckling pig. Head to the  where there will be barbecued suckling pig (Cooked Thai style), beer, wine and their signature "Moo Juice" cocktails. 611 Vanderbilt Ave., $10.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to Prospect Park where kids can ride the carousel, play in the  and the outdoor garden and visit the zoo for the sea lion feeding.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... Since it's a holiday, trains are runnion on a Sunday schedule. Due to the West Indian Day Parade, No. 4 trains will make local stops in Brooklyn and all trains will skip Eastern Parkway in both directions, according to the MTA. To avoid crowding at Franklin Avenue station the MTA suggests you get off at Grand Army Plaza, Nostrand, Kingston or Utica instead.

5. ... and if you have to move your car. Not today of course, but not Monday either, since alternate side will be suspendedfor Labor Day, according to the NYCDOT.
