5 Things: No Q Train All Weekend (and Monday), Black History Events for Kids, Free Tango Workshop, More

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need to ... tango! Head to the Central Library for its monthly Tango Workshop. 10 Grand Army Plaza, 10 a.m. Free. 

2. You need to get literary. Head (back) to the Central Library for an Author Talk by Martha Southgate, who will discuss her new novel The Taste of Salt. 10 Grand Army Plaza, 10 a.m. Free.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to the Brooklyn Children's Museum where there will be events in honor of Black History Month all day. 145 Brooklyn Ave. at St. Marks. Free with museum admission of $7.50 per person over 12 months.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... All weekend as well as Monday (!), there will be no Q trains north of the Prospect Park station. You can get a shuttle bus at Seventh Avenue to go to Atlantic for the N/R to the city (or to Prospect Park to catch the Q southbound), according to the MTA.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Not today of course, but not Modany either. Alternate will be suspend Monday, Feb. 20, for Washington's Birthday, according to the NYCDOT.
