5 Things: New Wave/Hip Hop/Funk and Celebrate Brooklyn!

1.You need Celebrate Brooklyn! Tonight,  perform. Prospect Park Bandshell (at 9th St.), 8 p.m. (but get there early for a reasonable seat), free.

2. You need "new wave hip pop funk." Their term, not ours. Find out what that is at , where  will perform. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect, 8 p.m. Free.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. For something different head to the Skate Truck at Prospect Park wich offers skate and safety equipment rental and instruction by Skate Truck NYC. They will be at the 3rd Street entrance to the Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last rental at 3 p.m.). The truck will be at the park periodically over the summer (see link). See our  for more options. 

4. You need to know if your train is running ... It is! There are no planned subway service changes affecting Prospect Heights today or over the weekend, according to the  MTA.   

5. And if you have to move your car ... You do. Alternate side parking rules are in effect today—the next suspension won't be until Wednesday, July 4, according to the NYCDOT
