5 Things: Franklin Park Reading Series, Subway Changes, More

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to get more involved in your community. You're in luck, because the , is taking place right on Underhill Avenue (as opposed to Crown Heights, as it often does). Seize the chance to speak directly with Deputy Inspector Elvio Capocci about what the cops are doing to prevent violent crime and how to best protect yourself. 7:30pm. , 80 Underhill Ave. at St. Marks. Come hungry, there's usually a good spread.

2. You need to get literary. Head to Franklin Park for their monthly series, where authors read their work. . This month Jim Shepard, Colson Whitehead, Ben Greenman, Matt Sumell and Steve Edwards will be reading. 8-10 p.m. Franklin Park, 618 Saint Johns Place at Franklin. No cover.

3.  You need to get the kids out of the house. It's supposed to be a gorgeous, sunny day, so head to the Prospect Park Zoo before it gets too cold, where you can see  offer food to her exhibit-mates,  steal food from her exhibit-mates, and , the otter couple, compete for special foods like hard-boiled eggs. Plus, there's the Sea Lion Feeding at 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., & 4:00 p.m. 10 to 5, $8, $6 seniors $5 kids 3-12. Or, .

4. You need to know if your train is running ...  There are no No. 2 trains between Brooklyn and Manhattan midnight to 5 a.m. all this week. Take the 4,5 or N trains with out-of-station free transfers at select Manhattan stops. Click here for details.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Yup, you're moving it. The next alternate side suspension isn't until Thanksgiving, on Nov 25, according to the NYCDOT.
