5 Things: No Q Train, Tales of Immigrant Teens at Library, ¡Acopladitos! Kids Concert, More

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need intellectual stimulation. You're in luck, because there's a at the  today. Journalist Brooke Hauser, author of The New Kids, discusses the year she , exploring the lives of the school's newly immigrated students as they try to learn both English and the norms of being an American teenager. 10 Grand Army Plaza, 1:30 p.m. Free. 

2. You need Brahms. Head to the for . Buck, the Philharmonic's concertmaster and a violinist is joined by pianist Molly Morkoski in a recital featuring music by Brahms, Szymanowski, and Grieg. 200 Eastern Parkway, 2:00 p.m. $15. (There's also  at the  at 4 p.m., which is free.)

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to   for Greenlight Baby Story Time. This week there's ¡Acopladitos! who will perform Latin American favorites and original songs. 686 Fulton St (at S Portland St), 11 a.m., for kids 0-3, Free. See our  for the full list.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... All weekend there  are no Q trains north of Prospect Park. You can catch a shuttle bus at Seventh Avenue to Atlantic (to get the N/R into the city) or to Prospect Park. In addition, there are no No. 3 trains south of 34th Street. No. 2 and 4 trains will provide alternate service, according to the MTA.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Not today of course, but alternate side won't be suspended again until Monday, Feb. 13 for Lincoln's Birthday, according to the NYCDOT, so try to grab a Tuesday spot now.
