5 Things: 'Monster's Inc.' Showing, Tin Pan Band, Weekend Subway Changes, More

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need a night out (with the kids). Head to PS9 for this first movie night of the year, a showing of  Don't have time to squeeze in dinner first? Never fear, organic hot dogs and other treats will be on sale. $5 per person with proceeds going to support the school. 80 Underhill Ave. 6 p.m.

2. You need a night out again (without kids). Kick back at , where  is playing. 683 Washington Ave. No cover.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to the Central Library for , where kids 18 to 36 months can hear stories, rhymes and songs. Space is limited. Pick up a ticket at the Children's Reference Desk on the morning of the program. 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. Free. Or, see our  for the week.

4. You need to know if your train is running ...  All weekend, beginning at midnight tonight, there are no No. 2 trains between Brooklyn and Manhattan. Take the No. 5 or R trains to nearby stations instead, according to the MTA.  

5. ... And if you have to move your car. You do. The next alternate side of the street suspension isn't until Tues., Nov. 7 (and Wednesday, Nov. 8) for Idul-Adha, according to the NYCDOT.
