5 Things: Chicken Barn Heroes, Open Mic, Karaoke, Sing-Along and More

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need a night out. If you'd like to listen to some music, there's  at 9 and  at 11 at the , 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Mark's and Prospect. No cover.

2. You need to ... sing! If you'd prefer to listen to your own music, head to , 807 Classon Ave. at 8 p.m. for  or go to , 769 Washington Ave. bet. Sterling and St. John's for  at 9. One drink minimum at Abigail, no cover at Eve's.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. We just found out about Spellbound Theatre Storytime, a drop-in weekly storytime that blends songs, books, fables, and classic nursery rhymes with music, puppets and more. Ages 0-5. Birth Day Presence Studio, 182 8th Ave. bet. Garfield and First. 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. $5 per family. See our  for more options.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... Between 11:50 p.m. and 5 a.m. weeknights through Dec. 30trains are running every 30 minutes between Atlantic Avenue and Stillwell Avenue. Brooklyn-bound trains will drop you at Pacific and you will have to walk to Atlantic and wait for the next leg (the reverse Manhattan-bound), according to the MTA. Bring a book, the wait can be pretty long.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. You do. Alternate side won't be suspended again until Dec. 25-26 for Christmas, according to the NYCDOT.
