Dear Parents,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we announce the launching of our new Brownstone Gan Katan Preschool! Centrally located in the heart of Prospect Heights, our school year is set to begin this September with enrollment now officially open.

Our boutique-like preschool offers a full progressive Jewish and academic curriculum in a warm, gentle and nurturing environment, in our brand new state of the art facility. We intend on capping registration our 1st school year at 16 children, in keeping with our personal child-focused setting, and allowing us to provide great teacher-to-child ratio.

While we are licensed from ages 3 months old and beyond our focus in our inaugural year will be for children ages 18 months – 3. However if the feedback is such that there is a demand for a program for ages 1 and below or 3 and above, we will re-evaluate and consider.

At Brownstone Gan Katan Preschool, we strive to nurture each child’s innate sense of wonder and curiosity. We firmly believe that the cornerstone for all cognitive learning is a nurtured sense of self worth, achieved by celebrating each child’s individual creative expressions and their unique strengths. Our entire staff, from administrator to director to teachers, are experienced educators who bring to their job a unique blend of personal and professional warmth that will be our hallmark in Brooklyn and beyond.

Our center-based preschool classrooms are full of opportunities for learning, socializing and growth. Judaic and academic themes are mutually reinforcing, and cover all the various concepts that complete an early childhood education: Literacy, pre-Math, Social Sciences, sciences and art. At Gan Katan Preschool, Jewish learning is not simply a subject. The warmth, meanings and practices of Judaism are an integral part of each day. Jewish songs, holidays and traditions are taught in meaningful and joyous ways, inspiring a deep-rooted Jewish connection in each of our students.

Our approach to integrated education is informed by both Jewish wisdom and the best of progressive educational practice, primarily the Reggio Emilia Approach which believes that the environment is the third teacher. We will also take inspiration from other educational philosophies like Jean Piaget who believed that children learn best through doing and actively exploring. These methods guide and inspire us to maintain a high level of respect for each individual child and for the world around us. Guided by Jewish teachings, we view each child as a precious gift entrusted into our care. This belief translates into every day and each encounter at Gan Katan Preschool.

Our site is sunny, modern and equipped with all the facilities of a first-class pre-school. Our bright and decorative classrooms are specifically designed to enhance your child's educational experience. The highlight of our space is our unparalleled fully equipped very own park, playground and veggie garden on our premises! Our intent is that the playground be used as a daily activity for the children to run, play, and explore nature not only in the warm summer months, but all year round.

Our first Gan Katan Preschool Open House is scheduled for Sunday, June 1st between 1:00pm – 3:00pm at 664 Sterling Pl. Bet Bedford/Franklin Ave.Alternatively, to schedule a private tour, please contact me at Chaya@....
