Sign Up for Notify NYC to Receive Latest Info on Weather, Traffic and More

Storm Alert: Several news sources are now reporting that NYC should anticipate near-freezing temperatures, more rain, snow or wind in the next week– ultimately exacerbating effects of Sandy on the region.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is encouraging all New York residents and visitors to sign up for Notify NYC (#NotifyNYC), the City’s official emergency notification system for the latest information on weather, school closures, subwayvdisruptions, and traffic advisories in all areas of the city.

Particularly during power  outages, Notify NYC’s text message alerts are especially needed.

Readers can sign up by visiting www.nyc.gov/notifynyc or follow @NotifyNYC. Anyone can sign up and customize the alerts they would like to receive based on the zip code for their home, child’s school or office location.
