The Week LAVA Looked Toward the Waterfront

LAVA, a Prospect Heights-based dance troupe, found its way onto the pages of blogs across Brooklyn after it announced its bid to take over the roofless, 19th century tobacco warehouse in Dumbo.

Their plan, as detailed on Curbed NY, included a theater, a cafe, multiple studios and a pyramid structure that would rise out of the building. However, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation voted to allow St. Ann's Warehouse, a performance group based across the street from the tobacco warehouse, to renovate the site.

Several local politicians, including State Assemblywoman Joan Millman, who represents parts of Prospect Heights, were critical of the lack of public partricipation in selecting the renovation designs and the hastiness with which the process took place.

Meanwhile, Brownstoner kepts its finger on the pulse of the Prospect Heights real estate scene. Wednesday's "Rental of the Day" featured 383 Park Place. According to Brownstoner, the location is great but it has a "tiny living space and a shared bathroom quarters." On Monday, was highlighted as their "Building of the Day
