Neighborhood Struck by Rash of Vandalism

At least a dozen cars in Prospect Heights had their windows smashed Tuesday night.

Residents across Prospect Heights awoke Wednesday morning to a frustrating discovery: Several cars on each street had their windows broken during the night.

The rash of vandalism, which began Tuesday evening, struck at least a dozen cars on Sterling Place, Park Place, and Bergen Street.

The New York Police Department said they first received calls about the vandalism around 6 p.m. Tuesday, but believe the perpetrators continued to destroy property in the area until early the next morning.

The police said the vandals did not leave behind much of a trail. They said they don't know how the windows were broken, and don't have any video of the incidents.

In the end, they were unable unable to acquire enough evidence to continue the investigation, so case has been closed. No arrests were made.

However, they said, if new information were to be come available, they would consider reopening it.
