MTA to Hold 'Missed Connections' Valentine's Day Party

Craigslist-inspired event for "hopeful romantics" to be held for the first time at Grand Central Terminal.

Whether you're looking for the love-at-first-sight you encountered on the subway or just looking for love in general, the MTA has an event for you.

On Thursday, the MTA will hold its third annual "Valentine’s Day Party for Lovers in Transit" for all "hopeful romantics."

The theme is inspired by the Missed Connections Craigslist section

For the first time, the event will be held at Grand Central Terminal instead of the Transit Museum, allowing participants to view the Museum’s exhibition Grand by Design: A Centennial Celebration of Grand Central Terminal while scoping out potential mates.

The evening also includes some comedy: NYT's columnist Alan Feuer will "recite Craigslist postings verbatim, adding only line and stanza breaks, to hilarious effect," according to the MTA.

Plus illustrator Sophie Blackall, who created the MTA's Missed Connections-inspired poster, will share stories of New York’s love and sign prints of her illustrations and her book, Missed Connections: Love Lost and Found.

On a related note, the Transit Museum is collecting stories and photos about love-in-Grand Central at #GCT100 and www.NYTransitMuseum.tumblr.com

The MTA's Valentine’s Day Party for Lovers in Transit will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 6-8pm in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal. Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 in advance and $7 for members and can be purchased online here

And now, to gear you up for Thursday's event, here are some of our favorite missed connections from the past few days:

Q train to Bkyln - w4w

Q train to Brooklyn around 5pm Friday. You, 5'7 with short brown hair, stood in front of me by the door then sat right next to me as I stood. Your attention made me nervous. I'm not sure what happened but after you got off at 7th avenue I realized I had lost my breath...

F train to Brooklyn 2/11 evening w4m - w4m - 21 (Carroll St. Stop)

You sat next to me on the F train to Brooklyn around 9 PM tonight. You were wearing glasses and a green tweed coat. I saw you listening to Leonard Cohen and looking at pictures on your phone. I was wearing black and listening to Foxygen. You got off at Carroll street and looked back.

R Train - today! You were in army gear and I'm the redhead - w4m (R Train, Brooklyn)

You got on the R train heading southbound around Union (?) and we sat across from one another sharing glances. You had on an army jacket with an Airborne patch on the sleeve, an army hat and paint spattered pants. I'm the redhead with the white fedora. I felt like I should talk to you, but didn't. I got off at 45th street, around 2:15. Would be happy to chat and see what the connection is...

Lovely Redhead with "NON" monogrammed bag, F Train to Brooklyn 2/11/13 - m4w

February 11, a rainy Monday evening around 6pm. You, a lovely redhead with a bag monogrammed "NON," and unforgettable eyelashes on the F train. I stood near you burying my face in a book, but you caught my eye with your extraordinary hair and impossibly long lashes. I was shy, but don't let me be stupid.

Classon ave crossplatform - m4w

Dana, we werent sure if we had missed the last train. You pulled something out of your pocket and I decided we should meet face to face. On the off chance you think to check this, let me know what it was, and lets grab coffee/a drink?
