Community Board 8 Jettisons 3 Members
Members were removed for non-attendance at last night's meeting at Hebron Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Three people were voted off of Community Board 8 last night.
Dawn Brown, Shirley Lee and Hasoni Pratts were all removed from the 50-person board for non-attendance. None of the three has made it to more than a handful of the monthly meetings in 2010, board officials said during the discussion. Board officials noted that in one case, a severe medical problem prevented the member from attending the meetings.
According to District Manager Michelle T. George, it is not uncommon for members to get voted off the board for non-attendance because people's schedules often change during the year.
The board members are appointed by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz in conjunction with Council members Letitia James, Darlene Mealy and Albert Vann. New members should be appointed soon, George said.
The board also unanimously approved the renewal of the base license for Catch Ah Ride Car Limo, located at 735, Nostrand Ave. after the Transportation Committee reported that no one has complained to the District Office about the car service.
The meeting was held at the Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Crown Heights from 7 to 8 p.m.

Yes, some contentious moments, but generally agrees with the author of the topic.
