Bar Corvo, Al Di Là's Washington Avenue Restaurant, Opens Thursday

Italian menu will have favorites from Park Slope sibling but will be simpler, with emphasis on pastas and salads.

Bar Corvo, the new Italian restaurant from the owners of the popular Al Di Là Trattoria in Park Slope, is opening Thursday.

At first the eatery will serve just dinner. But the owners plan to add lunch and take-out service soon, said general manager Jacob Somers, who owns the restaurant with Al Di Là owners Anna Klinger and Emiliano Coppa.

The eatery takes over Teddy's spot, at 791 Washington Ave. between Lincoln and St. John’s Place.

Like its Park Slope sibling, Bar Corvo will serve Italian cuisine, but with a more relaxed menu with lower priced options, said Klinger said in an interview in the fall.

There will be such Al Di Là favorites as individual lasagnas and the tagliatelle al ragu, but the Crown Heights kitchen will dish up some new options, such as a roasted pork shoulder sandwich and macaroni and cheese for the kids.

Because of its Al Di La connection, the restaurant’s opening has been highly anticipated by area foodies (along with 606 R&D on Vanderbilt, with its City Bakery pedigree, which opens Saturday).

The name is a nod to the neighborhood’s history: Corvo means crow in Italian and the neighborhood is also known as Crow Hill.

As for the “Bar” in the moniker, that was mostly meant to imply a casual, neighborhood place in contrast to its more upscale Park Slope cousin, Somers said last month. The restaurant will have a full bar, but since it closes at 11 p.m. it won't be serving the late-night crowd.

As for the décor, there will be a large marble bar open to the kitchen and some fun with the crow theme. But, since no photos are allowed until tomorrow’s official opening, you’ll have to go by and see it yourself—something many an area resident has already done.

“We’ve had a lot of people peeking in,” Somers said.

Bar Corvo, 791 Washington Ave., bet. St. Johns and Lincoln places, (718) 230-0940. Open (to start) every day but Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Thanks Mim!
I was wondering if anyone had tried it yet. How crowded was it? Was there much of a wait for a table?

We arrived at 6, by the time we left at 8, there was an hour and a half wait. They need to put a green salad of some kind on the menu, but I had fish, my husband had lasagna, which was very rich because of the bechamal and a meat ragu. I think the wine list is not so interesting, so we had ours before we arrived.
