5 Things: No Weekend Q Train at 7th Ave., Howard Fishman at BAM, Very Strange Music at Way Station, More

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

1. You need jazz/pop acoustic guitar. You're in luck, because Howard Fishman is playing at BAMcafé Live's All Stars Series tonight. 30 Lafayette Ave. 9 p.m. (but get there early, happy hour begins at 6 p.m.). Free.

2. You need music, um different music. Head to The Way Station where Maharadja sweets plays his mix of very strange combination of waltzes, marches and "all manor of futuristic mumbo jumbo." You might find him playing an electric shoe lace, or an amplified ice tray, or an iPhone theremin. Every show is different. 683 Washington Ave. bet. Prospect and St. Marks, 9 p.m. Free.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to the Pacific Library for Preschool Storytime. 25 4th Ave. at Pacific St. 10 a.m. Free. Or, see our weekly kids calendar for more events.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... Today yes, but probably not on Saturday and Sunday. There are no Q trains north of Prospect Park all weekend. You can take a shuttle bus at 7th Avenue to Atlantic (or walk) and catch the N or R to the city. In addition, there are no No. 3 trains south of 34th Street all weekend. Take the No. 2 and No. 4 trains instead according to the MTA

5. ... And if you have to move your car. You do. Alternate side won't be suspended again until Monday, Jan. 16 for MLK day, according to the NYCDOT.
